About Us

Doug
Doug Smith:
Doug learned to snowboard in December 1988. When he’s not shredding the gnar(ly NJ ice) or crashing into other irate surfers, you might find him behind his desk doing the 9-5(hey the $ for this has to come from somewhere!), as an engineer for the Army. Doug learned the craft of building NJ’s first (dont forget best!) snowboards from the Vermont legend, Steve Hayes, and from lots of trial and error. Doug has also gained knowledge from other industry consultants and top notch board builders from all corners of the galaxy. You can’t just wake up like Neo and go “hey, i know how to make snowboards!”. Lots of shit had to be broken first!

Dave McPadden
Dave earned the nickname “Oldskoool” because he started boarding when snowboards were not much more than a shaped piece of wood. He took some time off, but over the last 5 to 7 years he has been ripping more than any of us. He’ll ride a park top to bottom and shred every feature without stopping or hesitating. Dave is an electrician by trade, and he can build, fix, or break just about anything. He has also built some rails and boxes for small demos and parks. He’s probably going to get much better than Doug at building and improving our boards. He is very outgoing and so far has been the biggest voice for Blak Sheep.
